1% for the Planet
As a member of 1% for the planet we are proud to donate 1% of all our sales directly to our approved environmental partner.
1% for the Planet was founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, as a way to hold businesses accountable. The concept was simple: businesses that use resources from our planet should pay for those resources by donating 1% of their annual sales to environmental causes. Their mission is to accelerate smart environmental giving.
At the time of writing, the 1% movement has 4887+ active members contributing $708M+ in 110 countries with 7265+ environmental partners.
1% for the Planet Environmental Partners are carefully vetted organisations and programs that have proven alignment with 1% for the Planet’s Impact Areas. Environmental Partners are organisations working for the benefit of people and the environment, with missions that span across a wide range of impacts, from ensuring vulnerable communities have rights to land to reducing the environmental impact of cities.
Our chosen 1% partner is Kulira who have a number of programmes to support children in a variety of ways in Uganda including the creation of a community library and land to harvest food.
Kulira’s mission is to advance education, relieve poverty; and promote the well-being of children and young people in Uganda by providing sustainable solutions and practical support. Kulira will take a holistic approach to children’s needs including physical, environmental, educational, and psychological needs to champion their full potential.
